A dosing pump is different from a normal pump. Normally, we pump water from a tank or from the ground. But in process industries, a dosing pump is used to inject chemicals precisely during processing. For example, in an RO plant, when the pH of the water increases, specific chemicals are injected in very small volumes like 5 ppm or 10 ppm. These chemicals must be dosed accurately against the line pressure.
This is the job of a dosing pump to feed the required chemical precisely so that the water achieves the exact quality needed. There are different types of dosing pumps such as electronic dosing pumps and plunger pumps.
Only with accurate dosing can we achieve proper chemical mixing and maintain the desired water quality. In our recent project, we provided a dosing pump for a customer’s pH correction requirement, and with precise dosing, they achieved the exact pH they needed, making them very satisfied.
